Has your life ever taken a sharp left turn?
You weren't expecting it. Your life was mapped out and perfectly planned from A to Z. You knew what to expect, where it was going, how it would all play out and then . . .
Someone threw a wrench in the plans. A crossroads was shoved into your perfectly manicured and petunia'd path.
Next comes shock. Your brain freezes and you're taken from going 90 MPH to 1 MPH. It's hard to expect and difficult now to predict the future.
Your hopes and dreams are stolen.
So where do you go from here? How do you even start and take the first step?
It first begins with acceptance. It's not going to help to be bitter. Anger is a given, but temper it. The more it's displayed, the more your progress will falter. Maybe it wasn't fair; maybe it was his fault. No one cares. It won't pay the bills.
Accept it baby and move on! I know easier said then done - but it is possible. I have to audibly say every day, "I forgive him; please bless him." It releases the anger and prevents bitterness. These emotions will serve only one purpose - to stifle my growth as an individual. I won't allow him to ruin, deter, and stifle my future!
At first, I was so angry that I wanted to remove him from all of my social media outlets - remove his picture - erase him from my life.
But I realized, life is journey.
He is a part of my journey and intricately woven into the fabric of my life. We had three beautiful children together and many amazing memories that make up who I am. To erase him would be erasing a major part of my life and who I am.
Again, life is a journey and we're all learning as a part of the process.
The healing must begin.
Reset - step #1 "Where do we go from here?" How do we get started?
I hope you'll join me on the journey.
