Ingredients
6 granny smith apples, peeled and sliced
4 tablespoons of flour
3/4 cups of white, granulated sugar
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
1 tablespoon of butter
1 egg white
Directions
Use double crust pastry pie crust. Put one layer of pie crust in a pie plate.
Combine flour, sugar, and spices.
Mix together sliced apples with flour and spice mixture. Put mixture in pie plate. Slice the butter, thinly, and put slices on top of flour mixture.
Cover the top of the apple mixture with another layer of pie pastry crust. Seal edges together.
Cut slits in the top pie crust. Whisk one egg white and use a pastry brush to cover the top of the pie crust with the egg white. Sprinkle raw sugar on it.
Bake in a 400 degree oven on a lower oven rack.
Bake for 45 to 50 minutes until mixture is seen bubbling out of the slits. If the edges become too brown - cover them with foil to prevent burning.
